Why black & white? Well simply as mentionned above sometimes less is more. There are these specific pictures that just demand to be displayed in black and white. It is another but more intimate way of communication with the viewer. It is a form of photography where composition, light and perspective become more important and often shows you more or gives you deeper insight in the subject than any color would do. But it is far more demanding since you have little to work with. In this regard I can only respect old time famous photographers like Eugene Atget, and by all means icons like Cartier Bresson for what they did with analog film and very limited post processing facilities.
